A Reality Check
The biggest impact on
performance isn’t skill, it’s the psychological, unconscious
choices we make every day
A factor often ignored in the way we develop people
About Us
Founded by Jeff Wolfin, the Second Reaction™ helps people break free from the psychological thinking patterns that hold back performance, growth and change.
Typical training approaches often overlook a simple, powerful truth: our minds are wired to play safe and keep us within our comfort zones. Under pressure and stress, this instinct intensifies – often leading to stalled performance, slow change, low morale and burnout.
The Second Reaction™ plugs this gap. We enable people to understand how the human mind impacts performance and how we can all harness our psychology in ways that underpin greater success.
The benefits? Stronger and more consistent performance, faster change, more collaboration, increased resilience and more optimism.
The Big Idea
To equip people to take advantage of a unique human capability that every person has…..
…one that has a huge impact on performance and success
…and one that is rarely catered for in how we develop people
…the ability to choose our Second Reaction™ over our first reaction.
Our first reaction is automatic, unconscious and wired to keep us safe and within our comfort zones.
However, our Second Reaction™ is different. This allows us to make more considered, conscious choices – choices that enable us to respond to any situation in ways that result in the best possible outcomes.
We run events and workshops that equip people at any level with simple, powerful and memorable ways to choose their Second Reaction™.
Thank you to the organisations who have explored these ideas and approaches with us

I have been working in the field of behavioural change for over 20 years.
I have seen organisations across the world invest massive amounts of time and money into well intentioned training programmes, however it has both fascinated me and frustrated me that the vast majority of this investment usually fails to deliver the desired change and impact.
This doesn’t happen because people are lazy, disinterested or incompetent. It happens because the training world has underestimated the role human psychology plays in what people do and how well they do it.
I think it’s time we properly address this gap which is why we have created the Second Reaction. Traditional approaches to people development can only take us so far and so we are spearheading a powerful rethink of how to raise the bar of performance and achievement.
